Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2001 Christies in London held the auction 19C INDIAN PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THE KANWARDIP GUJRAL COLLECTION, which included the work Street Scene, Muttra (Mathura) by John Murray. The price achieved of GBP 5,875.00 (€ 9,485.62) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Murray - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Pavillion and Mosque Attached to the Taj, which sold at auction in October 2017 for USD 30,000.00 (€ 25,755.49).
