Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Nynee Tal View with Dr. John Murray reading beside the lake with his dog at his feet by John Murray was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 998.75 (€ 1,612.55). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Murray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pavillion and Mosque Attached to the Taj in October 2017 with an auction result of USD 30,000.00 (€ 25,755.49).
