Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Summer in the Hebrides by Douglas Percy Bliss was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 2,820.00 (€ 4,487.51). Other works by Douglas Percy Bliss have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in November 2005 by the work Gunhills, Windley at GBP 4,800.00 (€ 7,051.81).
