This artwork by Dominic Serres achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2015. In the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art; Maritime Art; Sporting & Wildlife Art auction, the work A Royal Navy Frigate Drying Her Sails Off Calshot Castle, Southampton sold for GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,941.04) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dominic Serres achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Capture Of Havana, Cuba: The Taking Of The Town By British Forces Under The Command Of The Earl Of Albemarle, 14 August 1762 in July 2016 with an auction result of GBP 581,000.00 (€ 690,353.69).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
