In July 2016 a collector was able to acquire the work The Capture Of Havana, Cuba: The Taking Of The Town By British Forces Under The Command Of The Earl Of Albemarle, 14 August 1762 by Dominic Serres for GBP 581,000.00 (€ 690,353.69). This price was achieved in the auction Old Masters Evening Sale at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 800,000.00 – 1,200,000.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, The Capture Of Havana, Cuba: The Taking Of The Town By British Forces Under The Command Of The Earl Of Albemarle, 14 August 1762 is the most expensive artwork by Dominic Serres that we have observed at auction so far.
