chiaroscuro woodcut printed from two blocks in black and mushroom, circa 1540s, on laid paper, watermark Siren in a Circle (this variant not in Briquet or Takahatake), a fine impression of the second, final state, trimmed on or just outside the borderline, the lower and upper left sheet corners skilfully repaired, a tiny repair to the borderline at lower right, two small repairs in the blank area at lower centre, the subject in good condition

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Four Doctors (Four Evangelists) by Domenico Beccafumi was sold in the Old Master Prints auction at Christies in London in December 2019. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 35,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 37,500.00 (€ 44,320.61). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Domenico Beccafumi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Holy Family in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 1,085,000.00 (€ 1,538,165.58).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Four Doctors (Four Evangelists) von Domenico Beccafumi wurde im Dezember 2019 in der Auktion Old Master Prints bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 35.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 37.500,00 (€ 44.320,61) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Domenico Beccafumi erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Holy Family im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.085.000,00 (€ 1.538.165,58).
