In October this year Phillips in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Woman at counter smoking, N.Y.C. by Diane Arbus. The »bidding war« ended at USD 25,400.00 (€ 24,034.82), 69% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Diane Arbus achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A box of ten photographs in May this year with an auction result of USD 1,008,000.00 (€ 946,123.52).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 69 % übertroffen
Im Oktober diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Woman at counter smoking, N.Y.C. von Diane Arbus zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 25.400,00 (€ 24.034,82) und damit 69% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Diane Arbus erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A box of ten photographs im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.008.000,00 (€ 946.123,52).
