Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Australian girl As Sorcery Figure by Del Kathryn Barton was auctioned at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 65,000.00 – 85,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 64,800.00 (€ 37,826.87). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Del Kathryn Barton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Nobody's Baby Now, 2008, which sold at auction in November 2020 for AUD 129,150.00 (€ 108,093.40).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Australian girl As Sorcery Figure von Del Kathryn Barton im August 2008 bei Sothebys in Melbourne versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 65.000,00 – 85.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 64.800,00 (€ 37.826,87) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Del Kathryn Barton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Nobody's Baby Now, 2008 beobachtet, die im November 2020 für AUD 129.150,00 (€ 108.093,40) versteigert wurde.
