Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2008 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Australian Girl #20 by Del Kathryn Barton. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 54,000.00 (€ 27,846.54) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Del Kathryn Barton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Nobody's Baby Now, 2008, which sold at auction in November 2020 for AUD 129,150.00 (€ 108,093.40).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2008 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian Girl #20 von Del Kathryn Barton zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 54.000,00 (€ 27.846,54) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Del Kathryn Barton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Nobody's Baby Now, 2008 beobachtet, die im November 2020 für AUD 129.150,00 (€ 108.093,40) versteigert wurde.
