Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Study Of Pirates by Dean Cornwell was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,250.00 (€ 5,665.34). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dean Cornwell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Study for 'The History of Transportation' Mural in November 2017 with an auction result of USD 137,500.00 (€ 115,565.64).
