Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2021 Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale - Morning Session, which included this untitled work by David Smith. The price achieved of USD 17,640.00 (€ 15,628.60) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Zig I in May 2016 with an auction result of USD 9,210,000.00 (€ 8,271,216.88).
