Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work H.R.H. William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland (1721-1765), Full Length, On Horseback, Wearing Frock Uniform of The First Guards With The Ribbon And Star of The Garter, Holding A Baton, A View To The Battle of Culloden Beyond by David Morier was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Morier - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Equestrian portrait of Prince William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland (1721-1765), full-length, mounted on his bay charger, in a blue coat, white breeches, black hat and the sash of the Order of the Bath, a view of the River Thames beyond, which sold at auction in July 2016 for GBP 43,750.00 (€ 51,984.46).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit H.R.H. William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland (1721-1765), Full Length, On Horseback, Wearing Frock Uniform of The First Guards With The Ribbon And Star of The Garter, Holding A Baton, A View To The Battle of Culloden Beyond von David Morier im März 2005 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Für andere Arbeiten von David Morier mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit [Equestrian portrait of Prince William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland (1721-1765), full-length, mounted on his bay charger, in a blue coat, white breeches, black hat and the sash of the Order of the Bath, a
