A top price for David Morier - as previously expected
The work Equestrian portrait of Prince William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland (1721-1765), full-length, mounted on his bay charger, in a blue coat, white breeches, black hat and the sash of the Order of the Bath, a view of the River Thames beyond by David Morier was sold in the Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale auction at Christies in London in July 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 43,750.00 (€ 51,984.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate.
