This artwork by David Hockney achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November 2018. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art Morning Session auction, the work Self-Portrait sold for USD 275,000.00 (€ 242,868.50) - well above the upper estimate of USD 150,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Hockney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nichols Canyon in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 41,067,500.00 (€ 33,579,313.16).

Dieses Kunstwerk von David Hockney erzielte im November 2018 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Morning Session wurde die Arbeit Self-Portrait für USD 275.000,00 (€ 242.868,50) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 150.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von David Hockney erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nichols Canyon im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 41.067.500,00 (€ 33.579.313,16).
