Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Sir David Webster by David Hockney was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2020. The price achieved of GBP 12,865,000.00 (€ 14,285,485.10) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 11,000,000.00 – 18,000,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Hockney - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Nichols Canyon, which sold at auction in December 2020 for USD 41,067,500.00 (€ 33,579,313.16).

Die Arbeit Portrait of Sir David Webster von David Hockney kam im Oktober 2020 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 12.865.000,00 (€ 14.285.485,10) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 11.000.000,00 – 18.000.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von David Hockney mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Nichols Canyon beobachtet, die im Dezember 2020 für USD 41.067.500,00 (€ 33.579.313,16) versteigert wurde.
