Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
When the work Portrait Of Joe Cowell by David Gilmour Blythe was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2013, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 15,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than six times as high at USD 100,000.00 (€ 73,561.87). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Gilmour Blythe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Family Prayers and The Sequel: A Pair of Works, which sold at auction in January 2024 for USD 252,000.00 (€ 220,241.22).
