Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Boy Drinking from a Barrel by David Gilmour Blythe was auctioned at Christies in New York in February 2002, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 11,750.00 (€ 13,571.26). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Gilmour Blythe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Family Prayers and The Sequel: A Pair of Works in January 2024 with an auction result of USD 252,000.00 (€ 220,241.22).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Boy Drinking from a Barrel von David Gilmour Blythe im Februar 2002 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 11.750,00 (€ 13.571,26) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von David Gilmour Blythe erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Family Prayers and The Sequel: A Pair of Works im Januar 2024 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 252.000,00 (€ 220.241,22).
