Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Still Life Of Oysters, Grapes, Cherries, Roses, Corn, Snails, A Melon And A Silver Sugar Shaker On A Stone Plinth by David Cornelisz. De Heem was sold in the Old Master and British Paintings auction at Sothebys in London in October 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 21,250.00 (€ 24,592.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Cornelisz. De Heem - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A tulip, pink roses, a crown imperial lily and other flowers in a glass vase, all on a stone ledge, surrounded by butterflies, which sold at auction in November 2010 for EUR 67,000.00.
