Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Double-Sided Work: Blue Hill (Recto) And Two Houses With Hill In Gray Wash (Verso) by David Brown Milne was auctioned at Sothebys in Toronto in November 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of CAD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for CAD 57,000.00 (€ 41,539.28). Admittedly, works by David Brown Milne have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Trillums And Trilliums in May 2011 with an auction result of CAD 278,500.00 (€ 199,963.62).
