In March 2012 Christies in London held the auction Victorian & British Impressionist Art, which included the work The oatfield by David Bates. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,500.00 (€ 2,997.04), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Bates achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Trucks and Trailers, 1991 in September last year with an auction result of USD 60,855.00 (€ 62,204.85).

Im März 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian & British Impressionist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The oatfield von David Bates zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.500,00 (€ 2.997,04) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von David Bates erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Trucks and Trailers, 1991 im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 60.855,00 (€ 62.204,85).
