The result of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 6,695.08) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by David Bates have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Trucks and Trailers, 1991 in September last year with an auction result of USD 60,855.00 (€ 62,204.85).

Die Arbeit A Corner of a Market Place, Cairo; and Arabs in a Courtyard von David Bates kam im Juli 2017 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 6.000,00 (€ 6.695,08) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von David Bates auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Trucks and Trailers, 1991 im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 60.855,00 (€ 62.204,85).
