Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
The work Cannas by David Bates was worth USD 43,750.00 (€ 35,525.78) to a buyer in July 2012. This price was achieved in the auction Christie's Interiors at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 7,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by David Bates; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Trucks and Trailers, 1991 sold at auction in September last year with the realized price of USD 60,855.00 (€ 62,204.85).
