Sold at the lower estimate price
The work The Ballad Seller by Daniel Maclise was sold in the Irish Art auction at Sothebys in London in September 2018. The result of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 33,693.86) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Daniel Maclise achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Wrestling Scene in 'As You Like It' in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 314,650.00 (€ 459,379.08).
