This artwork by Daniel Maclise achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2009. In the Victorian & Edwardian Art auction, the work Pan And The Dancing Fairies (The Faun And The Fairies) sold for GBP 301,250.00 (€ 339,820.59) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 150,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Daniel Maclise; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Wrestling Scene in 'As You Like It' sold at auction in February 2003 with the realized price of GBP 314,650.00 (€ 459,379.08).
