Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study of a sculpture of two young lovers by Daniel Maclise was sold in the British & Continental Watercolours and Drawings auction at Christies in London in October 2007. The price achieved of GBP 500.00 (€ 718.03) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Daniel Maclise achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Wrestling Scene in 'As You Like It' in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 314,650.00 (€ 459,379.08).
