Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Portrait of Count D'Orsay, Full-Length by Daniel Maclise was worth GBP 4,560.00 (€ 6,598.24) to a buyer in June 2006. This price was achieved in the auction British Art on Paper Including 'The Blue Rigi' by J.M.W. Turner, R.A. at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Daniel Maclise achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Wrestling Scene in 'As You Like It' in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 314,650.00 (€ 459,379.08).
