This artwork by Daniel Maclise achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2005. In the British and Victorian Paintings auction, the work A group portrait of three children, small full-length, seated in a landscape, a sketch sold for GBP 1,320.00 (€ 1,937.20) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 700.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Daniel Maclise achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Wrestling Scene in 'As You Like It' in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 314,650.00 (€ 459,379.08).
