In March 2002 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction PICTURES, WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS, which included the work Muleteers resting by a ruined tower in an Italianate landscape by Daniël Dupré. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 1,997.50 33% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Daniël Dupré - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A mountainous Italianate landscape with a peasant woman carrying her child on a road, a traveller resting beyond, which sold at auction in May 2004 for EUR 4,780.00.
