Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Daniël Dupré could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master Drawings auction, the work A View Of Sorrento, With Vesuvius Across The Bay And Two Travellers Resting In The Foreground changed hands for USD 4,688.00 (€ 3,158.82) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Other works by Daniël Dupré have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2004 by the work A mountainous Italianate landscape with a peasant woman carrying her child on a road, a traveller resting beyond at EUR 4,780.00.
