Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work High Voltage Rack Entwined With Tendrils by Cui Guotai was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 80,000.00 – 150,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 60,000.00 (€ 7,082.15). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cui Guotai - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Top Mountain, which sold at auction in March 2007 for USD 24,000.00 (€ 17,945.27).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit High Voltage Rack Entwined With Tendrils von Cui Guotai im April 2017 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 80.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 60.000,00 (€ 7.082,15) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Cui Guotai mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Top Mountain beobachtet, die im März 2007 für USD 24.000,00 (€ 17.945,27) versteigert wurde.
