Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2003 Christies in London held the auction British Works on Paper, which included the work Near Harlech, North Wales by Cornelius Varley. The price achieved of GBP 117.50 (€ 171.62) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 25.00 – 200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cornelius Varley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hampstead Heath in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 10,625.00 (€ 12,775.37).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Near Harlech, North Wales von Cornelius Varley zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 117,50 (€ 171,62) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 25,00 – 200,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cornelius Varley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Hampstead Heath im Juli 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.625,00 (€ 12.775,37).
