This artwork by Cornelius Varley achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in April 2013. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work Fishing On The Rheidel, Near Devil'S Bridge, Wales sold for GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,835.19) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cornelius Varley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Hampstead Heath, which sold at auction in July 2010 for GBP 10,625.00 (€ 12,775.37).
