The »bidding war« ended at EUR 2,750.00 38% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cornelis Saftleven achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A cat peeping through a fence in May 2005 with an auction result of USD 441,600.00 (€ 357,599.81).

Die Arbeit An ox resting, with its head through a wooden frame von Cornelis Saftleven wurde im Mai 2015 in der Auktion The I.Q. van Regteren Altena Collection Part IV bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 2.750,00 und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cornelis Saftleven erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A cat peeping through a fence im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 441.600,00 (€ 357.599,81).
