Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A cattle market on the outskirts of a walled town, with figures and animals crossing a bridge by Cornelis Saftleven was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in October last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 32,760.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cornelis Saftleven achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A cat peeping through a fence in May 2005 with an auction result of USD 441,600.00 (€ 357,599.81).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A cattle market on the outskirts of a walled town, with figures and animals crossing a bridge von Cornelis Saftleven kam im Oktober letzten Jahres bei Christies in Amsterdam zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 32.760,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cornelis Saftleven erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A cat peeping through a fence im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 441.600,00 (€ 357.599,81).
