A top price for Cornelis Saftleven - as previously expected
In May 2005 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work A cat peeping through a fence by Cornelis Saftleven. The price achieved of USD 441,600.00 (€ 357,599.81) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, A cat peeping through a fence is the most expensive artwork by Cornelis Saftleven that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis mit Ansage
Im Mai 2005 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A cat peeping through a fence von Cornelis Saftleven zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 441.600,00 (€ 357.599,81) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 300.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist A cat peeping through a fence das teuerste Kunstwerk von Cornelis Saftleven, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
