Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2020 Christies in London held the auction Face Time: People in Art through the Ages, which included the work Portrait of a lady, traditionally identified as Mary Chetwynd (d.1637), bust-length, in a red brocade gown, in a feigned marble cartouche by Cornelis Jonson van Ceulen. It changed hands for a price of GBP 13,750.00 (€ 15,143.24) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cornelis Jonson van Ceulen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of A Lady, Traditionally Identified As Lady Corbett, Half-Length, In A Black Dress Adorned With Pink Rosettes And A Reticella Lace Collar, Cartwheel Ruff And Headdress, In A Feigned Oval in April 2016 with an auction result of GBP 158,500.00 (€ 202,610.13).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2020 führte Christies in London die Auktion Face Time: People in Art through the Ages durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a lady, traditionally identified as Mary Chetwynd (d.1637), bust-length, in a red brocade gown, in a feigned marble cartouche von Cornelis Jonson van Ceulen zur Versteigerung kam. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of A Lady, Traditionally Identified As Lady Corbett, Half-Length, In A Black Dress Adorned With Pink Rosettes And A Reticella Lace Collar, Cartwheel Ruff And Headdress, In A Feigned Oval im April 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 158.500,00 (€ 202.610,13).
