This artwork by Cornelis Christiaan Dommersen achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2010. In the Old Masters and 19th Century Art auction, the work View of Amsterdam, with the Schreierstoren sold for EUR 16,250.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 8,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Cornelis Christiaan Dommersen; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Dutch The Harbour Of Antwerp With A View From The Left Bank Over The River Scheldt And The Onze Lieve Vrouw Cathedral In The Background sold at auction in April 2008 with the realized price of EUR 29,050.00.
