In the British and European Art auction, the work Figures and ships on an Amsterdam canal with the Zuiderkerk in the background sold for GBP 11,875.00 (€ 14,164.38) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cornelis Christiaan Dommersen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Dutch The Harbour Of Antwerp With A View From The Left Bank Over The River Scheldt And The Onze Lieve Vrouw Cathedral In The Background, which sold at auction in April 2008 for EUR 29,050.00.
