The »bidding war« ended at GBP 193,250.00 (€ 221,783.29), 61% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Corneille de Lyon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of a merchant, traditionally identified as Theodore Beza (1519-1605), which sold at auction in December 2016 for GBP 665,000.00 (€ 777,492.89).

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 193.250,00 (€ 221.783,29) und damit 61% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Corneille de Lyon mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of a merchant, traditionally identified as Theodore Beza (1519-1605) beobachtet, die im Dezember 2016 für GBP 665.000,00 (€ 777.492,89) versteigert wurde.
