The price achieved of GBP 467,250.00 (€ 521,181.78) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400,000.00 – 600,000.00. Other works by Corneille de Lyon have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in December 2016 the work Portrait of a merchant, traditionally identified as Theodore Beza (1519-1605) was auctioned for GBP 665,000.00 (€ 777,492.89).
