This price was achieved in the auction Old Masterand British Pictures at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 120,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Corneille de Lyon; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait of a merchant, traditionally identified as Theodore Beza (1519-1605) sold at auction in December 2016 with the realized price of GBP 665,000.00 (€ 777,492.89).
