The work Crossing the River Son with the Hill Fort at Rhotasgarh, Shahabad District by Robert Smith was worth GBP 40,630.00 (€ 40,925.49) to a buyer in September 2003. This price was achieved in the auction Arts of India at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work View of Mount Erskine and Pulo Ticoose, Prince of Wales' Island, which sold at auction in October 2014 for GBP 68,500.00 (€ 87,464.60).
