Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2014 Christies in London held the auction Topographical Pictures, which included the work Crossing the River Son with the Hill Fort at Rhotasgarh, Shahabad District by Robert Smith. The price achieved of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 22,344.97) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work View of Mount Erskine and Pulo Ticoose, Prince of Wales' Island, which sold at auction in October 2014 for GBP 68,500.00 (€ 87,464.60).
