Auction result well in line with expectations

The work An attack on an Indian fort, probably Bharatpore by Robert Smith was sold in the Arts of India auction at Christies in London in September 2003. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 15,535.00 (€ 15,647.98) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Robert Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work View of Mount Erskine and Pulo Ticoose, Prince of Wales' Island in October 2014 with an auction result of GBP 68,500.00 (€ 87,464.60).
