Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Waterfall by Colin McCahon was sold in the Modern and Contemporary Australian ArtIncluding Works by New Zealand and South African Artists auction at Christies in London in December 2007. The price achieved of GBP 24,500.00 (€ 33,291.34) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Colin McCahon have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Can You Hear Me St Francis in May 2004 with an auction result of AUD 261,400.00 (€ 152,727.61).
