In December 2018 Christies in London held the auction Topographical Pictures with Australian Art, which included the work French Bay, 1957 by Colin McCahon. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 77,500.00 (€ 86,341.87), 29% above the upper estimate. Other works by Colin McCahon have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of AUD 261,400.00 (€ 152,727.61) in May 2004 for the work Can You Hear Me St Francis.
