Auction result well in line with expectations
The work North Otago # 17 by Colin McCahon was auctioned at Christies in Melbourne in May 2004. The price achieved of AUD 83,650.00 (€ 48,874.00) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 70,000.00 – 100,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Colin McCahon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Can You Hear Me St Francis, which sold at auction in May 2004 for AUD 261,400.00 (€ 152,727.61).
