Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Claude Gellée achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2016. In the Old Master and British Works on Paper Including drawings from the Oppé Collection auction, the work Recto: Panoramic Landscape In The Roman Campagna; Verso: Study Of A Tree sold for GBP 413,000.00 (€ 490,733.35) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 200,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Claude Gellée achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Mediterranean Port At Sunrise With The Embarkation Of Saint Paula For Jerusalem in December 2013 with an auction result of GBP 4,450,000.00 (€ 5,352,659.84).
In der Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper Including drawings from the Oppé Collection wurde die Arbeit Recto: Panoramic Landscape In The Roman Campagna; Verso: Study Of A Tree für GBP 413.000,00 (€ 490.733,35) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 200.000,00.
