The work Profile Airflow by Claes Oldenburg was sold in the Prints and Multiples auction at Christies in New York in October last year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 100,800.00 (€ 101,469.70), 26% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Claes Oldenburg achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Clothespin Ten Foot in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 3,637,000.00 (€ 3,443,476.61).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 26 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Profile Airflow von Claes Oldenburg wurde im Oktober letzten Jahres in der Auktion Prints and Multiples bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 100.800,00 (€ 101.469,70) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Claes Oldenburg erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Clothespin Ten Foot im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.637.000,00 (€ 3.443.476,61).
