Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Chuck Close could be acquired at Christies in New York in November 2018 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art Morning Session auction, the work Self-Portrait changed hands for USD 40,000.00 (€ 35,326.33) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chuck Close achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Gwynne in May 2004 with an auction result of USD 2,807,500.00 (€ 2,298,027.34).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Chuck Close konnte im November 2018 bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Morning Session wechselte die Arbeit Self-Portrait für USD 40.000,00 (€ 35.326,33) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 100.000,00 – 150.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Chuck Close erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Gwynne im Mai 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.807.500,00 (€ 2.298.027,34).
